Review of The Good Girl (2002) by Simon D — 29 Dec 2008
I love this movie. Among it's many qualities is that it never forces an emotional climax. There's certainly emotion and it gets pretty intense but there's no scene where someone pours out their heart and says too much and says some hidden truth and suddenly looks surprised at their own revelation. That scene is present in so many movies and it's usually bullshit. The Good Girl is refreshingly free of bullshit.
It also proves the following things:
Jennifer Aniston is actually an actress under all the gloss.
Jake Gyllenhaal was better when he was awkward and a little creepy.
Zooey Deschanel is the queen of the supporting actress kingdom. All hail.
