Review of The Good German (2006) by Mark C — 13 Jan 2008
Interesting stylistically. This should have been great, but somehow it's hard to engage emotionally with the characters, and there's too little actual information and context presented for it to be interesting as documentary.
The characters in the movie were one-dimensional and disappointing, compared to the novel, which was very good, but very complex. Trying to simplify the story for the screen, characters have been combined (or left out), leading to confusion of motivations and a story that's hard to believe.
