Review of The Good German (2006) by Sunil N — 04 Sep 2008
A pretty standard period drama but the post-WWII Berlin setting does give it a bit of intrigue. Tobey Maquire's performance is hard to tolerate (imagine his Spiderman 3 bad boy routine without the black costume), while the rest of the performances are solid if not spectacular.
Don't expect it to be anywhere near the level of Clooney's other black and white effort Good Night and Good Luck.
