It's obvious that Soderbergh and Clooney wish they lived in the 40s, filming noir flicks. They're doing a great job reviving the whole feel to it - yes, it's gritty, and dark and melancholic, thus inappropriate for all you who gave it a low rating because you expected a flashy gadget kind of thing.
It's a good movie, give it a chance.
