Review of The Good Dinosaur (2015) by Chance F — 25 Mar 2016
I expected a little more from this movie, I'm not gonna lie. Pixar is really great at what they do and "The Good Dinosaur" doesn't live up to their potential. The film has one huge thing going for it and that is the visuals.
"The Good Dinosaur" is easily one of the more beautiful Pixar films. I found myself in awe of the world they had created. The characters where interesting and the opening screamed "The Lion King" to me.
Pixar's greatest power is making the audience cry and the characters' bond will certainly do that. But my biggest problem is the story, I found it very flawed. This is a journey home, much like the Coen Brothers' film "O' Brother Where Art Thou.
" However "The Good Dinosaur" doesn't have enough obstacles for our heroes to face with only about two or three different events and unlike "O' Brother Where Art Thou" there is no real culmination of these events.
I felt like this could have been a small part of an epic like "Lawrence of Arabia." Still better than "Cars 2" though. Not Pixar's best but still a decent film. OVERALL RATING: 6/10.
