In the 1942 rerelease of this film Chaplin adds his own voice as the narrator. I haven't been able to compare the two but the 1942 narration is fantastic. In addition to his gifts as an actor, director and composer Charlie Chaplin proves that his voice can liven the screen as much as his antics.
It's not his greatest film but the comedy is hilarious from start to finish. As always, Chaplin's protagonist is pathetic in the Greekest sense of the word. A beautiful film.
