Review of The Gold Rush (1925) by Jake G — 11 Oct 2009
THE GOLD RUSH was the movie that led to my love of movies. As a boy, the film led to a fascination with that the gold rush years; I read anything I could get my hands on. Forewarning myself that what one remembers as good in doesn't always hold up, I started the film with cautiously low expectations.
What I found, instead, was a delightful, timeless tale that should appeal to people of all ages. With Chaplin's signature style the laughs come easily, and you begin to root for the little man in the tattered suit. THE GOLD RUSH is one of Chaplin's earliest and best films, among the best produced in the Silent Era.
