Review of The Gold Rush (1925) by Manny C — 26 Feb 2010
Loosely based on the tragic experience of gold rushers, Chaplin Gold rush is a classic of the cinema, and proof that comedy and tragedy are never far apart. Chaplin crafts some of his greatest set pieces, as his little tramp is trapped in a log cabin, starving.
To watch Chaplin perform the dance of the dinner rolls, or eat his boot laces like spaghetti is to be in the presence of a comedy legend.
