Review of The Gold Rush (1925) by David U — 12 Oct 2005
BREATHLESS.
Jean-Luc Godard, 1960.
I'm sure Godard is a great director and that other movies of the French New Wave are fine, but this one just didn't wow me. Acting was fine, story was fine, there was nothing wrong with it...I just didn't like it. Eh. What can you do?
THE GOLD RUSH.
Charlie Chaplin, 1925.
Okay, now this movie was good. Silent, except for the added narrative by Mr. Chaplin, but still funny, it hardly seems dated. Or maybe it is, and I just didn't notice. Eh. I loved it.
