Review of The Gold Rush (1925) by Damien O — 18 Jun 2006
Ah The Great Chaplin. This movie was included the Chaplin Collection released by Warner Bros. This specific collection contains Chaplin's most famous movies. This collection, of course, included The Gold Rush, one of Chaplin's most remembered movies.
This is a great movie, a good love story, good comedy. But when you compare it to the 3 other classics in this collection (The Great Dictator, Limelight, and Modern Times) this movie just pales in comparison compared to those classics.
That's not to say the movie is bad at all, it is still required viewing if you're a Chaplin fan cause it gave you a preview of the many great things to come from this comedic genius.
