Review of The Godfathers of Mondo (2003) by Christopher S — 13 May 2008
An important and wholly candid documentary discussing the careers of the "Godfathers of Mondo," Gualtiero Jacopetti and Franco Prosperi. Much of the duration allows the two directors (no longer on speaking terms) to give their personal insight into each collaboration and allow some explanation of their most controverial works, namely Addio Zio Tom and Addio Africa.
I could've done without some of the random talking heads who pop in to add evaluating comments, but overall this is the film one should start with before even venturing into the mondo genre.
