Review of The Godfather Part II (1974) by Warren M — 05 Jun 2012
Well at first you sort of think how can this beat the first one in any way. And my answer to that is, it really doesn't. This picture just about equals the previous film, focusing more on the character's intents and plot-structure rather then the whole family-Mafioso plot.
The movie is missing some key figures such as a good villain, Sonny, and oh yeah-THE GODFATHER. However, here we get to see the actors that were upstaged in the first one, step up their performances. Al Pacino is a fine example of that, playing more of a villain then the main character we rooted for in the first one.
Robert De Niro portrays a young Vito and does stupendously, equaling Pacino in performances. So to say, yes, De Niro stole the show. And there were a few slow parts with Pacino, but I guess both characters counter each otherââ,¬â¢s actions and "words.
" The Godfather II is a highly acclaimed film, one of the greatest mob movies out there, not to be missed by anyone.
