Review of The Godfather Part II (1974) by Kyle R — 14 Dec 2013
Godfather Part II is an obvious hit as it is practically the exact same film as the original except for a different storyline and plot. Just like the original, the acting was very strong, the story was told in Coppola's great unique way, and the culture and tone of the film felt very similar to the original.
While both Part I and Part II are long films, I think Part II suffers more then the original because of its long length. The original film had several powerful and transcending scenes that will always be remembered in film history which helped captivate the viewer and cause them to forget about the films length. Unfortunately for me I think that Part II simply does not have as many of these scenes as the original. This causes the length of Part II to stick out and really become more noticeable and more of an issue.
