Review of The Glass House (2001) by Jeremy K — 16 Mar 2010
More or less your average thriller. Leelee Sobieski delivers with a very strong, spirited performance, but it seemed remarkably easy to discover the Glass' "secret," as if no one could figure it out.
But everything else in the movie was a little difficult, and by that, I mean, I sometimes couldn't understand what characters were saying, I didn't get the point of some scenes, and I couldn't get a strong realism out of anything.
I do like how multi-layered the Glasses are in this, but it also works against the movie's favor, particularly with Stellan Skarsgard. I feel like he's trying too hard, and he's not real convincing in how he switches between the nice guy and the deranged madman.
Overall, this is a pretty decent time-killer, but nothing special. Could definitely have done with some more editing, but it's still not bad.
