The Glass Castle is in the: "So you think you have a messed up family? genre of movies that are supposed to make you feel better about your own family, or the family of someone you like - but sorta pity.
It is also in the category of movies you could not believe, except that it is based on a true story.
In the end, it is a tale of love between a father and a daughter; and the duality of mankind.
A tale about a mad dreamer whose dreams never pan out - a price we as a society pay a thousand times for every Steve Jobs who makes it.
Stay for the credits to see pix and video of the real people on whom the movie (and book) is based. Unlike most Hollywood productions, the real-life people are substantially better looking than the actors playing them. Since the actors include, Woody Harrelson, Brie Larson and Naomi Watts, that's saying a lot.
