I read a bunch of reviews after seeing the movie. I really think that ones own world view and upbringing would influence the way you'd interpret the film. Growing up in an alcoholic home, I experienced a well intentioned parent who made a lot of mistakes.

It wasn't all bad and my mind wants to focus on the good, and dismiss the bad. I related to this films conflict and gave me a new perspective on my own journey.
