Review of The Giver (2014) by Alan T — 02 Aug 2015
Uneven story-telling that leaves much to be desired. Respectable performances from a young cast, though none that truly impress throughout. There's not much explanation as to how the Giver is able to transfer memories and feelings over to the Receiver, nor is there any explanation of crossing the Memory Boundary, causing everyone within the conformists' idyllic community to suddenly feel and see the world for themselves.
