The Giver is by far one of the best films of the year. It's visually stunning and a very interesting blend of science fiction and social drama. Because it is so unique, it will not be to everyone liking, hence the less than glowing reviews.
It certainly skews toward a more thinking person's palate... not your typical over-the-top special effects extravaganza. In time, this film will most definitely end up being regarded as one of the best.
