So I really enjoyed the Swedish version but I still have a skeptical view of American "remakes", they seem like an exercise in futility. But if it weren't for my hypnotically consumerist mind I would never have seen the Swedish version in the first place.

My point is this movie got me into foreign films and I love it for that. It has essentially the same plot (meaning everything that was good about the original AND the book) except I saw it first. So everything about this movie is good because it's borrowed from the Swedish one, but it's for people who don't want to read subtitles (oh the horror).
