It's absolutely brilliant and fairly fresh. I would say it bears definite similarities to 28 Days Later, so in a sense, it's not totally original. Also, the first 70 minutes (or so) is better than the last 45 minutes.
Based purely on the first 70 minutes, this would've been a 9.
