Review of The Girl with All the Gifts (2016) by Jade Q — 28 Sep 2017

The Girl with all the Gifts was one of my favourite reads from the past 12 months and so I was really looking forward to seeing this. Obviously it's not as good as the book but then what film is? Given more time I think the characters of Sergeant Parks and Dr Caldwell could have been developed further given their history that is revealed in the book, plus Justineau's tragic back story is completely ignored which is a sahme because it heavily influences her actions regarding Melanie .

Despite this, the film is still decent, with very good performances, especially from the young lead Sennia Nanua. The zombie genre is very much over populated but if you're a fan and you're looking for a different take on a well worn story then this is most definitely worth a look.
