Review of The Girl on the Bridge (1999) by Dolly S — 29 Jan 2007
This is my favourite Leconte film, and one of my top ten favourite movies ever. One of the most sensual movies I have ever seen, beautifully filmed(in black and white), and greatly acted. Splendid cinematography and a very suggestive soundtrack, plus one of my favourite actors, Daniel Auteuil and the sexy Vanessa Paradis (she gives a splendid performance, such a shame she stopped acting), their chemistry is almost tangible. Veeery romantic while lacking the hollywoodian cheezyness, with a dash of surreal.
I wish Leconte still made films like this, his last ones are rather disappointing, unfortunately.
A gem of the French cinema, highly recommended.
