Review of The Gift (2015) by Grant H — 02 Sep 2016
One of the more satisfying films I've seen in the past decade.
Some of my favorite films are ones that change my expectations and leave me questioning. This was definitely one of those movies. I can't say what I thought going in to The Gift, but I can tell you that coming out of it, I felt an "Oh, shit," wasn't enough to summarize just how incredibly well everything went down and pushed me to new levels of shock.
The ending had a bit of a cliche touch to it, and it was something I had a feeling would end up happening, but it was the pure curiosity of what would happen afterwards that got to me.
Although the ending didn't entirely satisfy me, it did do the rest of the film justice when you know that sometimes revenge doesn't just come in the form of a few kicks an punches.
