Review of The Gift (2000) by Billy L — 21 May 2008
An under-rated supernatural thriller from Raimi and co. that works off relationships and psychological interplay rather than relying completely on (excellent) special effects to fully deliver the creeps.
Some of Billy Bob Thorton's plot twists may be sensed before they hit the screen, but this doesn't diminish the entertainment nor subtract from the ensemble's talent for evoking an engrossing and spooky piece of Southern-fried suspense.
