Review of The Gift (2000) by Private U — 09 Nov 2008
This movie is not good. Let's get this out of the way early. I'm not a big Katie Holmes fan, so her half-naked didn't sell me. Kinnear and Blanchett were good, JK Simmons was as awesome as ever. Swank was OK. This is hard for me to say, but I've had to do it often lately: Raimi missed the point. He missed the point badly. It's a horrible movie, and I'd never sit through it again, even with this amazing cast.
The mention in Harold and Kumar go to White Castle is better than this movie. And that's saying something.
