Review of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947) by Erik W — 24 Apr 2011
A classic love story. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first sat down to watch this but It was a pleasant surprise. Gene Tierney is Charming as the widow who falls for the spirit of a Sea Captain played with perfection by Rex Harrison.
Surprised the only Oscar nomination this movie received was for it's black and white cinematography by Charles Lang Jr. But I think the Academy suffered a slight case of amesia and forgot to nominate Rex Harrison as best actor as well as to composer Bernard Herrmann who composed a hauntingly beautiful score that adds to the film's dramatic and romantic touch.
