Review of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947) by Giancarlo V — 13 Mar 2012
Definitely a chick flick, but one so superbly executed that one would be hard pressed to be emasculated by the liking of it. Gene Tierney is undeniably sympathetic as Lucy Muir a widow, and closet feminist, who hides under a mousy but immeasurely beautiful countenance.
Rex Harrison as The Ghost of a dead sea captain is perhaps the only injection of testosterone the film has, with his sea jargin and crotchety disdain for the fairer sex he explodes on the screen, yet manages not to consume but compliment the same space as Tierney.
Anyone who enjoys classic cinema can find no fault with THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR.
