Review of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947) by Allie L — 22 May 2013
This was an absolutely beautiful movie. Gene Tierney was a wonderful leading lady. She was a strong woman who I would love to be like. Rex Harrison was PERFECT in this role. He was absolutely irresistable; an imposing figure that you are unable to ignore.
His growing fondness for Mrs. Muir, which quickly turns into something more, is precious, and a marvelous thing to watch unfold. The attraction between these two characters was heart-wrenching, and you wish they had met when the Captain was still alive.
Their relationship is one of the sweetest I have ever seen. The ending was utterly striking; it brought tears to my eyes and sent a shiver down my spine. This movie wedged it's way into my heart and I don't think it will ever leave there.
