Review of The Getaway (1972) by Elliot R — 19 Apr 2008
As much as I admire much about Peckinpah's work, The Getaway falls short of something great because for me it's too long. There are good action scenes, violence and some memorable dialogue, but the story and pace suffer with a serious amount of sagging in the middle.
This story couldn't really stretch to 123-mins. That said, The Getaway can just about entertain if you don't mind the sometimes pedestrian pace.
