Review of The Gay Divorcee (1934) by Rachel B — 14 Mar 2010
The first feature pairing of Astaire and Rogers packs a delightful, innuendo laced farce for a plot. I prefer the plot to any of the other Astaire-Rogers films I've seen. The musical numbers are generally wonderful, but "The Continental," in its 20mins of glory, always reminds me of an exchange between Chico and Groucho in Animal Crackers: "I can't think of the end of this song.
" "I can't think of anything else.".
