Review of The Gauntlet (1977) by Paul P — 07 Sep 2009
Cool Clint Eastwood film, but very predictable. Still, this film has a lot of charms, Sondra Locke is superb, so is Clint Eastwood. Both of their characters are very authentic and human, also there's a subtext about society in the 70's and women's voices being more unabashed than ever before, and Sondra Locke represents here the perfect example of a strong willed woman, even though she's a prostitute, Locke delivers a memorable performance, perhaps even stealing the show.
Of course the last 15 minutes in the bus is really far-fetched, but somehow it didn't detract from the movie. This is good fun, very entertaining movie.
