Review of The Gate (1987) by Jacob P — 12 Sep 2011
Im more tolerant for PG13 movies from the 80s then nowadays. Cheesy stuff like The Gate are a hell of a lot more entertaining then say Shark Night or even Drag Me To Hell. In the same breath it's no great shakes either.
Some nostalgia value here though. The effects are amusing but not always successful. Those little biting minions make me snicker anyways & they could have just made a movie centering on them on a rampage.
Instead it just keeps throwing stuff into the primordial soup & it doesn't always work. The plot holes are huge & @ times it's thin on logic but this is geared for more simple minds. Good stuff to scare the shit out of an eight year old though.
