Review of The Game (1997) by Joe M — 15 Dec 2012
"The Game" is a flawless, thrill-packed and nerve-wracking masterpiece that is as profoundly intense as it is scary. The script is extremely well-written, and it keeps the audience guessing the outcome of every single frame.
The cinematography is impeccable. the score will make your bones run cold and the performances are spot-on. It almost feels like a well-oiled machine that you think you know, but you really don't.
The ending is like a thought-provoking, mind-twisting yet sickening lightning strike - a punch in the face of every convention and every rule in the book of cinema. This is a movie that raises the standards for what a thriller can be, and it deserves to be ranked as one of the most effective movies of all time.
5/5 stars.
