Review of The Game (1997) by Art S — 18 Apr 2014
I've warmed up to this one over the years, especially with my growing respect and admiration of David Fincher since "Se7en". Here is a moment in his directorial evolution where you can see certain elements changing and becoming stronger (especially the visuals and camera movement) but the story feels a bit predictable and the "gotcha" moment, somewhat muted.
A fine cast (Michael Douglas chews scenery like a buzzsaw) make this B-movie very palatable and easy to digest. A must-see for any Fincher fan or those into visually striking cinematic imagery along the lines of Michael Mann or early Ridley Scott.
