Sooo glad I didn't take much stock in the reviews. I mean , I almost felt like something was wrong with me and I had to be missing something for enjoying this. but then I remembered I go to the movies to be entertained and not to find faults.

I i don't usually have extremely high expectations except for remakes or sequels/prequels. so when I saw the trailer and heard the cover of smells like teen spirit I was instantly drawn to the movie.

as a found footage I was already impressed because I usually finish those types with a headache from all the shaking. it becomes a distraction. this one wasn't like that. unlike most viewers I found the beginning well placed as it got you comfortable before setting you up for a final half of non stop suspense.

with the acting by generally unknown faces, It really felt like this movie was made by a bunch of teenagers and I mean that in the best way possible. it felt real. it was rated R and there was no profanity (if there was it wasn't noticeable), no nudity, and no gore, a rare accomplishment for some horrors that feature directed towards my age group.

it had a twist that I almost didn't see coming. it's one of those things where you don't guess it at the beginning, but as the movie progressed you piece things together and you can figure it out, but if not it definitely makes it obvious if you didn't catch it.

I do think the ending was slightly rushed, I could have used a few more minutes of resolution but it leaves you with an explanation way better than some movies. yeah, there were some plot holes, the biggest one being why charlie had to die in the first place.

but none of it was enough to deserve one star. what I really don't like is that "professional critics" are putting down the fans of this movie. you like what you like, I like what I like.

and I liked the gallows.
