Review of The Gallows (2015) by Jeremiah C — 10 Sep 2015
Reasonably well acted, in that I actually believed most of the characters were dumb teenagers, and has some potential, but is mostly just boring. I have to question two main plot points as well: why would a school allow a production of a play when the previous attempt resulted in a student death by hanging, to the point where there's a permanent shrine to that show in school; and how the hell are the students in THIS production so uninformed about the production that they don't know the relationships the current cast has to that cast, especially given said shrine.
Add some glacial pacing and you really end up with a snooze fest that borders on stupid. Still, I'll give it credit that the found footage style actually did add some atmosphere and the multiple camera angles added variety that found-footage usually lacks, so at least it had that, and being boring is less of a movie sin than being annoying like some other films in this genre are.
