Review of The Future (2013) by George Q — 27 Oct 2011
'Me and You and Everyone We Know' is fantastic, but 'The Future' wanders a bit too much without much follow-through. Plots and ideas are presented half-formed and then forgotten, held together by the occasional fantastic moment â" July working at a dance studio front desk while her friends' children grow before her eyes; Linklater controlling the ocean's waves with his hands.
A disappointment, to be sure, but at least one which still shows July â" no matter how sloppy or twee she may get â" is still always at least half interesting. Shame (again).
