Where as July's 1st movie found whimsy in a recognizably real world, this goes full on weird without much to ground it. A 'Synecdoche, NY' level failure in over-indulgent surrealism, unless you judge success by whether or not the off-screen death a disembodied cat puppet can make your lady cry.
