Review of The Fury (1978) by Hollie T — 06 May 2011
This movie is RIDICULOUS in the best kind of way. Let aside that it's sort of boring, and makes no sense; there are auteur DePalma elements of style that you gotta love, and also amusement park terror, which is rarely less than a winner.
Emoting by Amy Irving, the late mid-life crisis of Kirk Douglas, the forehead veins of Andrew Stevens (when I'd really like to see other veins of his), and slo-mo pivotal action sequences (slo-mo because they are terrible action sequences) all combine to constitute a beautiful failure, a super-stylish failure of a movie.
I fully endorse it.
