Review of The Funhouse Massacre (2015) by Andrea G — 12 Jun 2016
WORD OF CAUTION to anyone who may be seeing this because ROBERT ENGLUND is in it: Despite being prominently featured in most of the films promotional materials he actually only has what amounts to a cameo and his character is dead within the first 10 minutes.
Once you get over the disappointment of realizing that he's not going to be in the rest of the film, what's left is fairly entertaining. It's primary problem is that it seems to want to be a sort of tongue-in-cheek horror/comedy but doesn't go far enough in either direction and so winds up being kind of lukewarm.
There are SOME laughs and SOME creepy moments but not nearly enough of either. It wets the appetite but ultimately doesn't satisfy. You won't feel like your time has been wasted but you probably wont find yourself re-watching it often either.
It also seemed to me like the makers of the film WANTED to include a lot of graphic violence but didn't have the budget for it. A good director should have been able to work around that limitation.
