Review of The Funhouse (1981) by Brandon W — 28 Jul 2007
Tobe Hooper?s biggest claim to fame will always be his directoral debut ?Texas Chainsaw Massacre? however the man is one of the most skilled visional horror directors ever. The Funhouse is a movie that has brought up much debate over his career.
Some consider it the worst movie he?s ever made and others consider his only worth competitor against ?Texas Chainsaw Massacre? for the best film in his career. I?m part of the later. Why don?t people like this movie? They mostly complain that it takes an hour before a single person is killed but to me? that?s the appeal.
It takes time to develop it?s characters and treats the carnival as a character in itself. The visuals and interesting from the opening credits to the final shot.
