Review of The Funeral (1996) by Ruhan R — 22 Jul 2011
What seemed appropriate for a few scenes in a gangster movie was turned into an entire film on it's own, and that was the prime mistake behind this picture. I understand that this movie was supposed to reveal the emotional side of the familial relationships within the mob, but it just resulted in a very slow-moving plot.
Nicholas St. John wrote a pretty mediocre script here. The characters were pretty typical, the least impressive being Chris Penn as the angry gangster Chez. Christopher Walken put on the best performance out of all of the cast, and even he didn't amaze me.
Overall a rather disappointing movie for anyone expecting a good mafia tale.
