The story begins ....

Sheffield - Acciaierie.

Quando sei senza lavoro, diciamolo chiaro e forte, sei "messo da parte", in tutti I sensi. Lo status di disoccupato con tutte le sue conseguenze, è la tua nuova carta di identità \quelle di credito o debito è preferibile consegnarle/ e con questa devi fare I conti. Insomma, sei uno strutturalmente cambiato, nel corpo e nella mente. L'operaio dell'acciaio, dei cinque continenti è accumunato dallo stesso, invalidante, destino. Sono sberle e sberleffi.

Se aggiungi che l'acciaieria nella nuova veste di "buttafuori", l'hai sempre sentita tua, l'isolamento interiore è ancora più forte. Ti risulta difficile interagire con gli altri, continuare a dare un valore alla vita. Gli affetti cadono a picco come le quotazioni dei titoli azionari. Il tracollo economico è affiancato dal tracollo emotivo.

Il "sono" rimpiazza "l'ero".

E così succede che... anche a Sheffield, "forza motrice dell'industriale Nord della Gran Bretagna, gioiello della regione dello York Share; "casa" per oltre mezzo milione di persone e per altre migliaia che qui giungono ogni giorno per fare acquisti e per lavorare; succede che... 25 years later, I 90.000 occupati del settore "acciaio" sono diventati... unemployed steel.", la loro mente come risposta "adattiva" subisce un lento, ma inesorabile processo di " impoverishment ". Sono sei le teste co-pensanti, tutti di Sheffield, o ivi residenti da moltissimi anni, non più abituati a leggere il contenuto di una busta paga e che devono fronteggiare gli ineluttabili problemi derivanti dai mancati introiti. Ma, la voglia di non sentirsi "vinti", la percezione di impotenza che ne consegue li convince ad iniziare un lungo viaggio dentro il comune senso del pudore ripercorrendone tutte le tappe. Gli ipermoralisti, sono invitati ad ampliare l'orizzonte visivo e mentale. Al termine del viaggio, probabilmente, nuove prospettive prenderanno vita, aspettando solo di essere realizzate. Probabilmente, è questo il punto.

E che spettacolo!

Ma cosa offrire? Un "servizio completo", testualmente "The Full Monty".

Si sa, ogni gruppo ha un leader. Il nostro gruppo è capeggiato da un ex metalworkers. Gaz \Robert Carlyle/ è la "mente imprenditoriale". Sposato e separato, vuole riconquistare l'affetto e la stima di moglie e figlio. Quest'ultimo, vera spina nel fianco per il papà oltre che suo produttore, gli fa da specchio della verità. In questo specchio Gaz trova forza e pazienza per un onesto agire. Così mi par di capire. Il progetto a prima vista sembra essere più una trovata goliardica che una idea imprenditoriale; tuttavia Gaz riesce a coinvolgere altri cinque componenti, un po' conoscendoli di persona, frequentano come lui l'ufficio di collocamento, diventato col passar del tempo una specie di bar. Ed un po' con memorabili audizioni "di tutto rispetto". E' in queste "audizioni" che farete la conoscenza del "mitico" Cavallo \ Paul Barber /. Il gruppo, coeso quanto un gomitolo di cotton candy, fino al momento della "prima", si sottopone a duri e simpatici esercizi psicofisici per trovare la perfetta forma. Niente è lasciato al caso, tutto è curato nei minimi particolari, costumi, location, scenografia, e soprattutto le musiche.

Il gruppo, davanti ad una sala gremita di persone, dopo un liberatorio quanto storico S . . . . . . . . . . riuscirà a mettere la parola fine a sacrifici, imbarazzi, emarginazioni, incomprensioni, parole non dette, amori mancati, amori persi, amori subiti, non capiti, bollette non pagate, beni rubati, beni confiscati e soprattutto alle DIVERSITA' ??? Peter Cattaneo \ regista / , Simon Beaufoy \ sceneggiatore / hanno saputo creare un social-mix-movie che consente spunti di riflessione sulle capacità dell'uomo di ri-nascere, di ri-elaborare il pensiero, sottoposto suo malgrado agli inevitabili stress "politici-economici-sociali".

"The focusing - La messa a fuoco". Quanti, sono in grado di farlo? E' difficile, veramente molto difficile non amare I personaggi di questo film. Tutti.
