Review of The Full Monty (1997) by Paul B — 15 Feb 2015
Ever imagined what it would be like to see Tom Wilkinson, Robert Carlyle and Mark Addy in a striptease? No? Didn't think so. But now you don't have to, The Full Monty makes it all to real. In all truthfulness, it isn't such a bad little film even though it contains a hugely anti climactic ending (they build the entire movie to lead up to a single even, "the full monty," only for the camera to capture in a still frame the back end of the main event, full nudity), but even so it's still funny and charming at times.
My main issue is how vastly overrated this film is, managing to snub Boogie Nights with inexplicable Oscar nominations for directing and film, given how abundantly clear it is that Boogie Nights is the far superior porno/sex movie to be released in 1997.
