Review of The Full Monty (1997) by Rebecca H — 01 Jul 2009
One of those working class Northerner films, this never really scratches the surface of the characters. Here we have six redundant steel workers, so desperate for money that they put on a strip act. And that's all there is to the film.
It's all suggestion rather than plot, and yet what we do get is quite heavy handed, not subtle. Oh well, I loved it the first time I saw it. It just doesn't work on repeat viewings.
