Much better than I expected based on reviews.... Yes, there were a few twee moments... but it's sort of like going to a good restaurant and liking everything you have except the stuffed mushrooms..
. yes, some moments were cliched, but the movie as a whole is engaging, and the story it tells is compelling... and the acting by Nicholas Cage, Vanessa Hudgens, and John Cusack are quite worth watching.
.. And the story is both exciting and heartrending.
