Inspired by true events which is the reason I rented it. I can see how a serial killer in Alaska goes under the radar for so many years: the weather conditions, isolated areas where bodies were dumped, never recovered or some that were recovered had wild animal bite marks, etc.

Alaska during winter is menacing, daunting and frankly dangerous..We have Nicolas Cage playing the role of a State Trooper Jack Halcombe who takes a case of a dead body found in the Alaskan wilderness.

A teenager escapes the clutches of serial killer Robert Hansen (John Cusack) and once Halcombe starts piecing the puzzle pieces together with the aid of the FBI's crime profilers, it is a race against time to stop Hansen.

This is not a murder mystery, as the killer is disclosed early on in the film. The question or issue is from a legal perspective, how can the State Troopers PROVE their case. Good film and as you watch it from the comfort of home you will be compelled to make some hot tea, hot chocolate or coffee- the outside scenes have a psychological effect on the viewer I imagine, especially in Blu-ray format because it looks so REAL.

.It is not the best serial killer film but also not the worst and for a $1.50 Blu-ray rental, you get your money's worth. Recommended!
