Review of The Front (1976) by Steve U — 28 Mar 2005
I was interested in seeing this. It wasn't as tightly based of McCarthyism as I would have hoped. The story is about a bookie who accepts blacklisted writer's material and submits it himself. The premise sound's really interesing, but the film doesn't execute it as well as I hoped.
Woody Alleen basically plays the say character that he's played in most his movies. On the upside, It is pretty well-acted and a little funny at times. The script is also very intelligent, as are the characters.
