Peter Jackson returns to the horror-comedy genre with not a gory film, but a film surrounding ghosts. "The Frighteners" centers around Frank Bannister, a psychic con man who uses ghosts to terrorize people. But when a series of unexplained heart attacks strikes the citizens of Fairwater, Frank must do what he can to stop it.
I loved this film when I first saw it, and I love it to this day. It's got everything I love in a horror film: scares, laughs, and likable characters. Michael J. Fox is great as Frank Bannister, and Chi McBride, Jim Fyfe, and John Astin are hilarious as the ghosts.
If you like movies like this, you will definitely enjoy this film. It's the perfect movie to watch during Halloween with a bucket full of pop-corn and a bowl full of candy.
