Review of The Frighteners (1996) by Andy M — 05 Feb 2008
I wanted to see this because:
A. Michael J. Fox stars.
B. It got reviews comparing to the Ghostbusters and Back to the Future (same producer).
C. Peter Jackson directed this, and well, the nerds respect him.
Even after all those good things this movie had going for it before we popped it in, we were still frightened beyond belief of this atrocious film.
The dialogue and action were extremely plain/lame, which is a shame because of the blinding star quality of Fox and the fairly decent plot (although we didn't even make it to the end, so the plot could very well have spoiled.).
Was it funny? No. Was it action-packed? No. Was I frightened during the movie? Yes. At one point during the movie Kady let out this big burp and it kind of scared me a little. I mean, who does she think she is, burping like that right in front of me? Scary...
